TOIL Balances

To add and maintain a separate TOIL Balance within Activ Absence, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Select Administration > Absence > System Configurationmceclip2.png
  2. Select Leave > TOILmceclip1.png
  3. On the following screen, you can then select options as to how the TOIL Balance should be displayed and managed within the system.
    Maintain separate TOIL Balance? Choosing Yes will allow you to manage and spend Time Off In Lieu separate to the Annual Leave balance.
    Allow overspend? Selecting Yes will allow employees to overspend their TOIL Balance.
    TOIL Balance Increase (Leave Types) Choose which Leave Type can increase the TOIL Balance for the Employee when requested via the system.
    TOIL Balance Decrease (Leave Types) Choose which Leave Type can decrease the TOIL Balance for the Employee when requested via the system.
    Enable TOIL Adjustments Choosing Yes will allow you to adjust the TOIL Balance via the Employee Profile.

    TOIL Balance version:

    • Leave Year
    • All Leave Years
    The type of TOIL Balance to use.
    Display TOIL in days Choosing Yes will display the TOIL Balance in days.  Choosing No will display the TOIL Balance in hours.
    Enable manual process to zero employee's TOIL Balance If set to Yes then this option is available from Reporting > TOIL Balance Report > Zero Positive TOIL.
    This process will go through the employees selected on the report and update their adjustment value based to zero their balance. Only records that started before today will be used for this purpose.
  4. Once you've chosen the options that best suit your needs, click Save in the top right corner of the screen to apply the changes.
